A reminder to all Florida Employers that Florida’s Minimum Wage Changes Today, September 30, 2024

Florida’s new minimum wage policy will go into effect TODAY, September 30, 2024.  Florida’s new minimum wage is now $13 an hour. 

Florida’s minimum wage will keep rising annually until 2026 per the amendment:

“Each September 30th thereafter, minimum wage shall increase by $1.00 per hour until the minimum wage reaches $15.00 per hour on September 30th, 2026. From that point forward, future minimum wage increases shall revert to being adjusted annually for inflation starting September 30th, 2027.” 

Tipped employees in Florida are entitled as of today to a jump in their minimum wage in Florida to $9.98 per hour under Florida law. 

Take a moment to be certain you have the correct and most recent Florida Minimum Wage Poster posted in a prominent place where employees regularly gather.

In addition to posting the Florida Minimum Wage poster at your workplace, employers must also post the federal minimum wage poster.  The federal minimum wage is currently significantly lower than the Florida Minimum Wage.  Florida employers must pay the higher Florida minimum wage.  Here is a link to the most current federal minimum wage poster. 

Be sure to adjuster your payroll today and review any payroll from third-party vendors to be sure the appropriate minimum wage is reflected and being paid.
